Job Title: Estimator

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team in Irving, TX. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and thorough cost estimates for structural steel components using both computer-aided and manual take-off methods. This position plays a key role in evaluating labor and material requirements, reviewing vendor and subcontractor quotes, and supporting project planning and execution efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed take-offs of structural steel components and related detail requirements using CAD and manual methods.

  • Apply labor standards to components for accurate cost forecasting.

  • Develop comprehensive estimate packages, including supporting documentation.

  • Review and evaluate vendor and sub-tier quotes to ensure compliance with project specifications and contract documents.

  • Prepare estimate summaries, identifying special requirements and buy-out items necessary for scope execution.

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.

  • Contribute to process improvements and estimating best practices.

  • Assist in mentoring and training Estimators in Training (EITs), providing guidance and feedback on estimating techniques and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in structural steel estimating or a related construction estimating field.

  • Proficiency in computer-aided estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Tekla, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong understanding of structural steel components, detailing, and construction practices.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.

Preferred:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Previous experience mentoring junior estimators.
